As the sun begins to shine and the mandates begin begin to lift – the team at CreateAbility reflect on the lessons they learned over the last, difficult year.
What I learned from the pandemic:
How much I took for granted. I really missed live entertainment, theater/plays, and hanging out with friends.
I learned that it doesn’t matter where you are in the world. With video conferencing, you can collaborate with, serve, and stay connected with anyone, anywhere.
Finally, I feel as if I gained a new perspective in life. I’m more of an extravert and gain energy from face-to-face collaborations, meetings and workplaces with lots of interactions with people. However, to many of our customers and several of my colleagues, these are energy draining events. They love the isolation of working from home and controlling interactions with others.
I’m grateful for: family friends, and colleagues.
I’m looking forward to: Hugs, watching live music, going to see a play, and most of all – not wearing a mask someday.
What I learned during the pandemic:
Living through a pandemic has taught us a lot about how blessed our lives really are and how we take so many of the small conveniences in our lives for granted. As a person that has worked from home for nearly a decade, I would assume that adjusting to a stay-at-home lifestyle for all things work-related would have been easy. Surprisingly, that has been one of the hardest adjustments, not having any facetime at all with colleagues and customers.
I’m grateful for: The endless and tireless work that healthcare and frontline workers have accomplished through all of this – to help all of us. I couldn’t imagine how dire of a situation the world would be in without them and all that they do.
I’m looking forward to: On a personal level, not being able to go have a random, nice dinner and a movie with my wife – or other comforts that society gave to us our whole lives – that’s what I miss the most.
What I learned during the pandemic:
Never take your health or family for granted. Never take your time on Earth for granted. Technology has expanded the human experience throughout this pandemic.
I’m grateful for: The internet, modern medicine, and person freedom.
I’m looking forward to: Traveling, going to restaurants, and in-person meetings.
What I learned during the pandemic: While I have always been the type who is gracious with tips and is kind to my cashier at the grocery store, I go out of my way to praise the work they do now. Every job, every worker has an important role to play in each of our lives and I’m hoping we all see that a little more clearly post-quarantine.
I also learned that without hair color, I’m just about totally grey now. (Gulp.)
I’m grateful for: Our frontline workers, science, and my Faith which kept me sane during these challenging times.
I’m looking forward to: Live music, going to church in-person, a less socially-distanced holiday season, and live conferences where I actually get to spend real face-to-face time with our clients and potential clients!
What I learned during the pandemic: How much I truly missed and valued visits with distant friends and relatives, exploring our awesome dining culture in Indy, and the positive effect of strangers’ smiles on my mood.
I’m grateful for: The health of my family, the success of our team, and great relationships with our colleagues.
I’m looking forward to: I look forward to continuing to remove barriers within our products with our colleagues and users, in person, and seeing my mother and my son finally re-unite.”
